The Polestar 3 has set a new world record for the longest distance ever travelled by an electric SUV on a single charge, covering almost 600 miles on UK roads in a single run.
This achievement is attributed to the new Long Range version of Polestar’s flagship SUV, which is equipped with a 107-kilowatt-hour battery and a single 295-horsepower motor driving the rear axle. Throughout the journey, the vehicle clocked an impressive 581.3 miles through the east of England. That distance not only shatters the car’s official 438-mile range rating but also surpasses the previous record of 569.64 miles, held by the Ford Mustang Mach-E since last year.
The figures are even more remarkable when translated into efficiency. The Polestar averaged 19.5 kilowatt-hours per 100 miles, or 5.13 miles per kilowatt-hour, a level of performance comparable to small electric cars that weigh significantly less than the 2.4-tonne SUV.
Adding to the feat, the car continued for another eight miles after the dashboard read zero per cent charge and still reached a charger, suggesting it could have gone slightly farther. Importantly, this was not a stripped-down prototype. The SUV was completely standard, fitted with the same Michelin Sport 4 EV tyres it leaves the factory with, and the run was completed entirely on open public roads. The route included everything from narrow single-track lanes to sweeping dual carriageways and winding B-roads.
This record comes just a week after Chevrolet announced that its new Silverado EV pickup truck had covered 1,060 miles on a single charge. That achievement, however, required light modifications, took seven days to complete, and was made possible by a massive 205-kilowatt-hour battery, roughly twice the capacity of the Polestar’s pack. Even then, the Silverado averaged 4.9 miles per kilowatt-hour compared to the Swedish SUV’s 5.1.
While the outright range record for an unmodified electric car is still held by the Lucid Air, as certified by Guinness World Records, Polestar’s attempt stands out for another reason. According to Sam Clarke, one of the three drivers involved, this run was conducted under conditions far closer to what everyday drivers might encounter in real-world situations. That realism came with its challenges. The team had to plan routes that avoided any significant hills to conserve energy, while also steering clear of roads that had already been used during the attempt. Even minor changes in direction late in the drive could have jeopardised their chances of setting the record.

I’m based in Bristol and enjoy trying new themed slot games. Many of the bigger casinos I knew are now on Gamstop, so I was looking for alternatives. https://www.jostrust.org.uk/gambling/casinos-not-on-gamstop/ offered a solid list of UK-friendly casinos, along with explanations about bonuses, security, and banking. It felt like a straightforward way to find the best options without needing to dig through dozens of random sites first.
