In an exciting leap toward nationwide expansion, HIVED is unveiling a brand-new depot in West London, marking a significant milestone in its quest to revolutionize the e-commerce delivery sector. As demand for fast, sustainable deliveries skyrockets, this move is a key step in scaling its electric-only fleet and custom-built logistics technology across the UK.
Nestled at SEGRO Park Hayes, the new site is set to be a crucial cog in HIVED’s ever-growing network of eco-friendly logistics hubs. The company says this expansion lays the foundation for an ambitious rollout to other cities in the UK.
The new depot, designed to handle a staggering 40,000 parcels daily, will kick off operations with a team of 45 staff. This is more than just a new location—it's a statement of HIVED’s commitment to sustainable, electric-powered delivery solutions. Serving major retailers such as ASOS, Uniqlo, Nespresso, and Zara, the company has already completed millions of deliveries across London, tapping into the rising tide of e-commerce.
Unlike many competitors, HIVED runs a fully electric fleet covering every aspect of the delivery process, from long-haul transport to final-mile delivery. This unique approach is helping reduce delivery emissions by an impressive 76%, setting the company apart as one of the first in the UK to run electric HGVs on long-distance routes.
The launch of this depot is perfectly timed, with e-commerce growth showing no signs of slowing. Industry forecasts predict a near doubling of UK parcel deliveries by 2030, a trend HIVED is already positioned to capitalize on.
Chief Executive and Co-Founder Murvah Iqbal, who was recently named one of the 30 most inspiring people under 30 by The Times, says the new Hayes depot will play a vital role in HIVED’s growth plans: “HIVED was founded with a commitment to improve the parcel delivery experience by putting end consumers first with our tech-enabled platform.
"With our innovative parcel sortation system, which can intelligently flex to accommodate rapid increases in parcel volume as expected in the next year for our service, alongside heavier diversification of postcodes, this expanded site allows us to be all the more effective and efficient in delivering quality to Londoners.”
The company’s bold move into West London follows a record quarter for HIVED, with growing demand from high-profile retailers like Nespresso, Uniqlo, and John Lewis. This surge reflects evolving consumer expectations — fast deliveries, yes, but ones that are also eco-conscious.
A Nationwide Expansion on the Horizon, HIVED isn’t stopping with West London. With a vision of becoming a key player in the UK’s delivery network, the company is set to roll out additional depots across the country over the next 18 months. Its national expansion is underpinned by a robust middle-mile network that moves parcels from large distribution centers to local hubs in London.
The business is also preparing to replicate its service model elsewhere in the country. Speaking about the national expansion, Murvah adds: “This latest expansion is also proof that our multi-site logistics model, with purpose-built technology designed for the e-commerce age, is scalable nationally.
"The next step for HIVED will be to replicate the same levels of service we provide to retailers and customers across other parts of the UK.”
HIVED’s future looks bright as it continues to innovate and scale. The company’s cutting-edge logistics solutions and electric fleet are positioned to meet growing consumer demand for sustainability-driven delivery. With key partnerships lined up and increasing investment from Maersk Growth, Pale Blue Dot, and Planet A Ventures, HIVED is set to keep pushing the envelope in the e-commerce delivery space.
Looking ahead, HIVED is also investing in a national charging network to support its growing fleet of electric vehicles. The new SEGRO Park Hayes site, strategically selected for its infrastructure and capacity, will play a pivotal role in this effort.
Since its 2021 launch, the company has delivered its three millionth parcel. HIVED expects parcel volumes to soar as its network continues to expand, setting the stage for a cleaner, faster, and more sustainable future in UK e-commerce deliveries.
“SEGRO Park Hayes is a unique development that integrates living and working space, driving both sustainability and economic growth," explains Gareth Baker, Director of Western Corridor at SEGRO.
"It’s great to see the development fully let and our vision for a dynamic, thriving community come to life. To meet HIVED’s power requirements, we are reallocating surplus power from another unit to ensure efficient operation. This is just one example of how we go above and beyond to meet our customers’ needs.”
