Clevergy, an innovative climate tech startup based in Madrid, has successfully secured €1.5 million in funding, marking a significant milestone in its journey towards revolutionizing home energy management. This funding round was spearheaded by Zubi, under the leadership of founder Iker Marcaide, with additional contributions from Earth, a newly established climate-tech fund by Maex Ament.
The round also saw participation from notable investors such as Philip Stehlik, Finaves, Fredrik Wikstrom, and several other business angels specializing in the climate-tech sector. Furthermore, the founder of the acclaimed American energy management software startup Uplight, Adrian Tuck, has come on board as an advisor.
Clevergy's ambition to streamline home energy management leapt forward with its initial pre-seed investment of €500k from Flash Ventures in 2022. The startup aims to develop a comprehensive platform that enables energy dealers and installers to centralize control over home energy systems, enhancing efficiency and user experience.
With this new injection of funds, Clevergy is poised to enhance its technological offerings. It will focus on expanding compatibility with smart devices, integrating advanced AI-driven energy-saving models, and promoting community-based energy management solutions.
Iker Marcaide, from Zubi, said: “The decision to invest in Clevergy aligns with the strategic interests of the company. This investment underscores our commitment to innovation and sustainability and is fully aligned with the goals and developments of our current initiatives. Clevergy is at the forefront of the home energy transition, an area we deem critical for the future. We are delighted to support and be part of this significant shift in the industry.”
Beltrán Aznar, CEO and co-founder of Clevergy, commented: "Households will play a crucial role in the energy transition, evolving from mere consumers to active network participants, generating their energy and balancing demand. Clevergy supports energy retailers and renewable energy companies with its technology, offering the best energy experience to their customers via apps or web platforms."
The company is committed to maintaining its brand integrity, recognizing the importance of brand association in energy management. To this end, Clevergy offers bespoke white-label integration options tailored to the specific needs of businesses, ensuring the seamless integration of new applications or modules without compromising the company's identity.
Founded in 2021, Clevergy addresses the pressing challenge of disjointed connectivity between homes, the power grid, and manufacturers of energy-related devices such as batteries, electric vehicles, heat pumps, solar panels, and more. The current landscape, fragmented by device-specific applications, limits user engagement and hampers energy companies' ability to streamline and centralize their operations. Clevergy positions itself at the forefront of the future energy transition, connecting homes, smart devices, and retailer services through a unified platform, paving the way for a more integrated and efficient energy management ecosystem.
