Water Harvesting Inc., better known as WaHa, has just closed an $8 million Series A1 funding round alongside a significant corporate reorganisation. The round was led by Chairman Mike Phillips and board member Christian Thirion, with backing from some of WaHa’s most prominent supporters, including Berkeley Catalyst Fund, Anthropocene Institute, Vestafund, and Mitsui Mining & Smelting Co., Ltd.
This funding isn’t just about raising capital; it wipes out the company’s existing debt, simplifies the shareholder structure, and provides WaHa with the financial runway it needs to achieve its following primary commercial targets. More importantly, it fuels the company’s rapidly growing pipeline of sales opportunities across the UAE and the broader GCC region. WaHa has already demonstrated that its technology can reliably produce clean water in some of the harshest environments on Earth, as evidenced by field trials at Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi. These trials have shown that even in extreme desert conditions marked by scorching heat, low humidity, and constant sandstorms, WaHa’s systems can consistently deliver.
Since 2023, the company’s atmospheric water generation (AWG) systems have been tested and proven in a range of demanding locations, including West Texas, remote desert sites in the UAE, Riyadh, and even Stockholm.
Across these deployments, the systems achieved a mechanical reliability of 99.998% and delivered 98% of the target water output. That’s currently the highest sustained performance in the AWG industry.
What sets WaHa apart is its patented WaHa Vaporator technology. This modular system not only supports off-grid installations but can also integrate with HVAC and agricultural applications. The company currently holds 14 patent families, comprising 18 patents granted worldwide, thereby securing its position as a true innovator in the field.
Looking ahead, WaHa will officially debut its first commercially available AWG unit at WETEX 2025, taking place from September 30 to October 2 in Dubai. The exhibition will give utilities, developers, and industrial players a first look at a scalable, sustainable solution for accessing clean water. The company is already in discussions to finalise manufacturing and distribution partnerships, as well as long-term service and support agreements.
“We’ve built a platform capable of transforming access to water across multiple sectors,” said Mike Phillips, Chairman, WaHa. “This raise will enable us to establish solid traction for the WaHa Vaporator® and improve water security in the UAE and broader GCC.”
“We’re grateful for the support of our investors and partners,” added Frank Ramirez, CEO of WaHa. “This is a major step toward delivering water where it’s needed most—reliably, efficiently, and sustainably. We’re proud of what our team has achieved and energised for what’s ahead.”
