Redrow South East has extended its partnership with the wildlife conservation charity RSPB for another five years. The renewed collaboration is accompanied by a £1 million investment from Barratt Redrow, the developer’s parent company. This funding will help create housing developments that are more welcoming to nature, while also inspiring homeowners to support local wildlife. At the same time, it aims to influence government and the wider industry to encourage healthier, more sustainable environments.
Several of Redrow’s developments in Kent, including Greenways, Stonehaven Park, and Crown Hill View, will continue to benefit from the RSPB's expert guidance and ongoing support.
The two organisations have already collaborated on initiatives such as Nature on Your Doorstep, a campaign aimed at providing residents with practical ideas for transforming their gardens and outdoor spaces into wildlife havens.
Their collaboration has also led to the creation of a specially designed “swift brick” that provides nesting sites for swifts. More than 7,500 new homes are now being fitted with these bricks, alongside show home gardens that feature a range of wildlife-friendly designs.
Looking ahead, Redrow and the RSPB plan to expand their efforts even further. They want to introduce more nature-focused features across developments nationwide and develop detailed species enhancement plans that support the animals and plants most at risk in each local area.
Chris Lilley, managing director of Redrow South East, said: "Whilst we face a nature and climate emergency in the UK, we also need to build more homes to tackle the housing crisis.

"Our partnership with the RSPB for the past 11 years has shown it's possible to build new homes for people and wildlife.
"We are delighted to be extending the partnership for another five years, building on what we have already learnt together, giving nature a home."
Beccy Speight, chief executive of RSPB, added: "We are at a very critical time in terms of the state of the natural world.
"Now more than ever, it is absolutely vital that we put nature at the centre of everything we do – especially when it comes to planning where and how we build houses in this country.
"We know that when we join forces and work together, with the right expertise and shared aims, we can achieve more for nature, and we look forward to continuing to build on what our partnership with Barratt Redrow has already achieved for the next five years."
The partnership has already won awards – including a BIG Biodiversity Challenge award for show home designs, the Corporate Engagement Award for best sustainable programme, and a prestigious RSPCA Animal Hero Award.
