ChicP’s New Launch Reinvents Sustainable Snacking




As consumers become more selective about what they eat and how that food is produced, one British brand is setting a new standard for sustainable, nutritious snacking. ChicP, founded by former chef Hannah McCollum, is reshaping the way we think about food waste, convenience, and plant-based innovation.

Founded in 2016, ChicP was born out of Hannah’s first-hand experiences with the staggering volume of edible produce discarded. Driven by a desire to make change, she developed a product that transforms surplus vegetables into vibrant, healthy dips.

From Surplus to Staple


At the heart of ChicP’s philosophy is a commitment to natural ingredients and circularity. Each product is made with fresh vegetables, many that would otherwise go to waste, combined with staples such as chickpeas, tahini, and olive oil. The result is a range of snacks that are entirely natural and made without artificial preservatives.


What began as a small-scale effort to address food waste has since grown into a multi-format product line with broad consumer appeal. Today, ChicP’s offering includes three core categories: chilled hummus, fridge-less ambient snack pots, and most recently, chilled snack packs. Each is designed to fit seamlessly into the lives of busy, health-conscious consumers who don’t want to compromise on nutrition or sustainability.




Innovation at Its Core


Among ChicP’s earliest releases was its Chilled Hummus Range, which includes bold varieties like Beetroot & Horseradish, Original, and a premium Truffle Hummus . They are stocked by leading retailers such as Ocado and Selfridges.


But it was the launch of the Fridge-less Snack Pot Range that truly marked ChicP out as a category innovator. Developed over the course of two years, these shelf-stable hummus pots were the first of their kind in the UK, offering a 12-month shelf life without the need for refrigeration.


With flavours ranging from Basil and Harissa to a distinctive Chocolate Hummus, and paired with crisp breadsticks, the ambient range delivers on both taste and practicality. For Hannah, the format exemplifies the brand’s mission to make healthy, sustainable food accessible and convenient. The long shelf life also helps reduce waste across the supply chain, a key consideration in food retail.


The Chilled Snack Pack Launch


In February 2025, ChicP expanded its reach with the introduction of Chilled Snack Packs, now available through Ocado. These pair the brand’s signature hummus flavours with gluten-free corn tortilla chips, offering a ready-to-eat option tailored to modern lifestyles.


Available in varieties like Beetroot & Horseradish and Velvet Hummus, the packs are vegan, dairy-free, and made using recyclable materials. They respond to a clear gap in the market: chilled, plant-based snack options that do not compromise on quality or nutritional value.
