Acer customers in the UK can now get their hands on a laptop that doesn’t just deliver on performance, but also makes a bold statement about sustainability. The newly launched Acer Aspire Vero 16, first unveiled at CES 2025, has officially arrived in the UK market, and it's unlike anything else currently on the shelves.
This isn’t your average eco-themed branding exercise. The Aspire Vero 16 features a chassis made from more than 70 per cent post-consumer recycled plastic, blended with a unique material derived from oyster shells. According to Acer, this combination marks a significant step forward in its mission to create environmentally conscious hardware that doesn’t compromise function for form.
Fronting the UK campaign is well-known environmentalist and broadcaster Ben Fogle, adding further weight to the brand’s push toward greener tech. In its launch announcement, Acer described the Aspire Vero 16 as a laptop for consumers who care deeply about sustainability but still demand top-tier performance.
Beyond the recycled chassis, Acer has taken it a step further. The touchpad is crafted from ocean-bound plastics, and the packaging is fully recyclable, reinforcing the company’s end-to-end eco approach. What sets this device apart, though, is its design philosophy. It has been built with both future upgrades and end-of-life recycling in mind — a feature that could prove especially appealing to enterprise customers. Studies have shown that frequent hardware refresh cycles are a major contributor to carbon emissions in corporate environments.
Acer claims the production of the Aspire Vero 16 cuts carbon dioxide emissions by more than 30 per cent compared to conventional laptops. That’s a significant reduction for a device intended for widespread use in both professional and personal settings.
Sustainability isn’t the only story here. Under the hood, the Aspire Vero 16 is no slouch. Buyers can choose configurations with up to Intel’s latest Core Ultra 7 processors, which include built-in AI acceleration to support next-generation workloads.
Memory and storage options are equally robust. The laptop supports up to 32 gigabytes of LPDDR5X RAM and comes with as much as two terabytes of M.2 SSD storage. That means whether you're editing large media files or multitasking across demanding applications, the Aspire Vero 16 has the specs to keep up.
The device ships with Windows 11 Home and includes a range of AI-powered features, ready to use right out of the box. Users can expect integrated tools, such as Microsoft Copilot for smart assistance, as well as Acer’s own PurifiedVoice and PurifiedView 2.0 technologies, to enhance video calls and voice clarity.
Visually, the laptop also delivers. The 16-inch display supports 100% of the sRGB colour space, promising vivid and accurate visuals, a must for creatives and media professionals. It’s also built for speed, with support for Wi-Fi 7 and dual USB Type-C ports for fast data transfer and connectivity.
