Atawey Raises €22 Million to Fast-Track Clean Transport in Europe

ree

Atawey, a leading French provider of hydrogen charging stations, has secured €22 million in new capital to fuel its expansion and enhance its support for hydrogen mobility projects across Europe. The funding marks a pivotal moment in the company’s journey as it scales operations, boosts production, and positions itself as a key player in the low-carbon mobility transition.

With 51 hydrogen stations already deployed, two production facilities, and a team of 150 employees, Atawey has built a solid foundation. Its growth in 2024 speaks volumes, revenue doubled to €18 million, representing a 113% year-over-year increase. In a sector where progress has often lagged behind projections, Atawey’s momentum stands out. The company’s ability to deliver modular solutions, wraparound services, and a robust client base has set it apart.

Despite broader challenges in the hydrogen space, Atawey has managed to outperform expectations. It currently holds €30 million worth of confirmed commercial orders, including from legacy partners and new names across France and beyond. Clients such as Brétéché Groupe Avia Picoty, GCK Energy, HYmpulsion, and Hynamics, alongside other major industrial players, are backing its vision.

Looking ahead, Atawey has set three clear goals: reach positive EBITDA by the end of 2025, expand its footprint across Europe (building on initial moves into Italy, Spain, and the Benelux region), and fast-track the rollout of high-performance hydrogen stations that are both competitive and scalable.

Long-time investor Starquest led the recent fundraising round, which included strong support from France 2030, industrial heavyweight ARMOR GROUP, a consortium of stakeholders, and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Regional Fund for the Future of Industry.

These funds will help Atawey accelerate on three critical fronts. First, it will expand its commercial reach to serve better the demand from the heavy transport sector, including freight, public transit, off-road equipment, and industrial applications. Each market has its regulatory requirements, and Atawey is preparing to meet them with tailored, region-specific offerings.

Second, the company plans to enrich its suite of integrated services. That means scaling up capabilities in operations, maintenance, training, and ecosystem development, ensuring support throughout the entire lifecycle of a hydrogen station.

Third, Atawey will double down on industrial optimisation. This includes expanding production capacity at its Chambéry and Grenoble sites, as well as integrating operational excellence into its manufacturing workflows.

With these steps, Atawey is strengthening its position as a full-service provider ready to anchor the hydrogen economy at scale. The company is not just deploying technology; it is shaping the future of clean, reliable, and European-built mobility.

Hydrogen remains a strategic pillar in the effort to reach carbon neutrality and build energy independence for Europe. Atawey is fully committed to this mission, offering flexible and reliable infrastructure that is ready today, not in ten years.

The company is also investing in talent and training through the Atawey Academy, which supports both internal teams and external partners. With a clear focus on safety, regulatory alignment, and cutting-edge innovation, Atawey is charting a course toward a cleaner, smarter transport system across the continent.
